I was born and raised within 30min to the ocean. Always trying out new things, initiating new ideas and helping along in society: through the cultural section in the spotlight, through childhood care and later on, behind the red velvet curtains. Now being the founder of Like the Tide.
As Like the Tide is an experience made for the visitor, the reader and the viewer, my story is not that important for now.
It began with a break down. Mentally, physically and spiritually. I had to re define my very way of living, being and interacting with the world, the ones around me and finding my place within all this. While slowly learning how to walk again (literally, twice within a year) it developed into learning how to speak (again, literally, I lost my voice, my memory and the ability to have deep conversations). Within me I always knew the spark was burning all along and the whole time I felt like I needed to enter the fire in order to get out on the other side, alive.
What I want to share about this, is the importance of how we decide to stand up in our life. How we protect each other, the planet and our heritage: we are nature, the water is our fuel to keep us going & earth is our home. Art, aesthetics and dreams nourishes us and living in balance with our emotion, senses and intuition, is what makes us a healthy human being. Like the Tide is all about that and figuring out how to implement this in our life, in unity. May it be with flora, fauna or fellow human beings. My gift to you is making you access this through activating the senses of sound, smell and touch and Like the Tide feels like the message within I have felt expressing my entire life.
My Story

During my short life span I have been starting up several initiatives. The dreams has turned into actual projects creating memories from performances, concerts, organizations, movies etc. Each time it has proven me how important helping each other and creating networks, are.
Most of times I prefer solitude - for ideas, creating, taking care of my needs and preparing myself to enter the space of other beings. While at other times I prefer being nourished by being around people.
With traumas specifically, the hippocampus (storing our memories), we can calm down the nervous system when we feel safe. Safety has many faces, some of them comes from touch, a smell evoking a safe memory or maybe a sound. This is connected to the stress levels, which are of many being managed in the emotional amygdala. And in order to balance all these levels, creating new memories attached to senses that usually would trigger traumas, we need a balances environment before we start. Triggers are no slow donkey, they are like a super high way, driving approximately 420km/h, working through the tiny fibers in the nerves.
This is why Like the Tide only provides low stimuli environments as this is not a place for treatment, but a place for rest. Inspiration and a loving hug to help you move forward on your own journey. I have been in enough environments believing provoking reactions is the only way to go. For some it might work, for others the quite opposite. And I would rather go slowly, making sure everyone's' boundaries are being respected, rather than forcing something that might create more trauma.
After working 15+ years with people to then wander around on a slow paced healing hike, I decided to combine the following:
Implementing people in how the body works
Using ancient knowledge
Using sensations of the ocean
Using modern neuroscience
And gathering people, in real life for honest and raw meetings. In senscious, low stimuli environments with intuitive singing and gatherings around water (instead of fire).
