How does it work?
Between 5th-10th January you can show up in person at Café Underkanten at Kofoeds School, Holmbladsgade 120, 2300 København S to get a ticket for the opening ceremony that will be held at 12nd January from 12:30-13:00 (just before the vernissage from 13:00-15:00).
The opening ritual on the 12nd lays on the last quarter of the moon, preparing for the new moon at 18th January 2026.
It will be an initiation to welcoming the project in the room, at the school on this piece of land in this town - with all it's history transforming from being an area of farming food to the people inside Copenhagen. An area that by the years has become one of the common places for new buildings and old remains brick by brick, hiding the nature below. Building that are visible at the coast side and where you easily from abroad, could see the coast side, the ocean as well. Open, wide. An initiation of welcoming new thing in our life, in this dark time of January, sparkling in the new year of 2026 and the last part of the darkest months after winter solstice has made the sun appearing just a slightly bit more - though the temperatures still might get a possibility of fallen into minus degrees.
A time for charging up, for the inner clock to relax and let the tick-tocking winter den pacing slowly towards the opening of spring and the old equinox where nature, the world and our outside/inside season opens up for new things to arise. What to do for the remaining months, weeks, hours, minutes - moments? What will we be making during these dark moments in the lighten up skyscrapers, apartments and what else boxes of walls and ceiling to open homes we might be living in - or not living in. Or the ones we used to. While carrying around our forever home of our physical body. The commune removing the old train rails to building the metro station connecting the inner city with the airport, the west side of the island and slowly removing all the sacred nature residencies, selling them away to foreign companies not caring about the well being of the island and area or long term profit, but thinking high profit short term. Raising the prices for homes even more and more and more people being pushed into living on the streets or moving out of the cities, if you're not lucky enough to get the lucky straw in the whole apartment-hunting game.
Just within the last 10years almost all nature areas around Kofoeds School has vanished in order to host yet another grey building of fast-production building, build up by cement, windows and high prices. And so the last breathing areas of just "being" pushed more and more people not being able to work a 9/5 job to stay inside, behind closed doors, in front of a book/screen, being more isolated from each other.
The project "Like the Tide" is much more than just some art and music, but also an invitation to think further: about your life and our co-existence. We used to live in groups, connected with animals and nature and now in this area, we are instead being more and more surrounded by concrete. Slowly being more disconnected to the nature if living in the cities while health issues issues, loneliness and unemployment are going upwards. Fast pacing everything up and up. When sometimes slowing down is what we need. In order order feel. Being present. If open wounds, then for healing our wounds especially - may they be physical, mental or within both. And so this exhibition is not just a random project, but something in order to keep moving on. Keep tuning into yourself and feeling your deepest needs, boundaries and stepping away from what tears you down and keeps you disconnected. Learning the language of the body and mind.
This is an event exclusively for 12 people - inviting you into a senscious experience with low light settings, live music and a social gathering. A time to cherish what we are building up in our life. If you didn't get an envelope you can still take part in the experience of the exhibition in the way suiting you - there will be a briefly guide when entering the room. There is a soundscape that you can listen to in whatever for you decide: may it be the music only, the interviews or nature sounds. Some are finished, some are small fragments and others still in process. Giving you the opportunity to think for your needs and taking actions - in a creative way and hopefully, taking something with you when you decide to leave the room again.
